Hey everyone! So my parrotlet pair has started laying eggs and this will be the first time any of my birds have laid eggs. She has 5 eggs in her nest box that she has been incubating for about 2 weeks now. I know at least one egg is fertile because I saw a heartbeat when I put a light to it. I’ve been doing lots of research and prep but one thing I can’t get a straight answer on is: what do I do with the chicks when they hatch? Do I leave them in the nest? Do I put them in a brooder right away? I’ve read that you can leave them in the nest for the first week or so but if I do that should I be feeding the parent ms a special diet?

I need help!!😭

Did you find help? I hope so. I am a one bird household so I have no experience with this. I'm sure a search of the forum will come up with something and if not maybe a more general forum like talk parrots will.

I have two baby Parrotlets. One 15 days and one 16 days. How often should I handle them? Yesterday I cuddled with them for 10 minutes or so and they seemed comfortable. Also, at this point is it alright to remove them from the nest and keep them in a shoe box with a heated pad underneath.
