Hello all!
Was wondering if a verbal command such as "good" can replace a clicker?

My bird hated clickers so that is what I did. Saying "good" should be fine. You can also just click your tongue if you want. Just be sure to have a favorite food reward ready. I used to chop up sunflower seeds to give to mine. Tell us about your bird. Have you had them long?
Thanks! I haven't gotten it yet. Contacted one breeder but they're sold out. Gonna try to call some pet stores in 2 weeks when my cage gets here.

Great! How exciting! Be sure to let us know when you get your baby! And of course please post pics too! :) If you have any questions feel free to ask! We will do our best to help you!
I have always used a verbal command although I have heard from people about successes with clickers. To be honest, though, I had never heard of clickers until this forum and she was 12 years old by then. Oops!
First week with my parrotlet (6 months old from a pet store) and today I taught him to touch a stick! Progress lol. Just using verbal "good boy".

Way to go, Chirpy! Bless his little heart for doing so good on his first day! He must have a good trainer. ;) Well done!

I’ve used the word “yes” with mine and she’s done great with it! It’s also nice not having to hold the clicker, it frees up my hands during the training. Hope it’s going well!
