You could try Magnolia Bird Farm in either Riverside or Anaheim. They specialize only in Birds, especially Psittacidae family of birds. If not, check craigslist. There are breeders there sometimes. There's a breeder who lives about a mile away from me but i don't know if he has any parrotlets left. He is on the inlandempire craigslist listing under pets somewhere. Good luck.. sorry i don't know if that was much help at all...

I got Jack at magnolia bird farm in Anahiem. I was just in there last week and I know they had a few in stock. The only negative thing I would say is that they dont have much time to socialise their birds.

I know someone in San Juan Capistrano, it might be worth the drive. Their babies are basically a part of the family and very healthy and extremely well socialized. Magnolia bird farm is just that, a bird farm. Don't get me wrong, I got my yellow nape there about 30 years ago. But they certainly aren't socialized birds. Let me know if you're interested and I'll contact them.

Thanks a lot, yes I am interested. I would only like to know if they have any green males (pacific) that I could handle. Still can't decide between a green cheek conure and a parrotlet...

There is a store called Pet Country in Lake Forrest. They sell other birds and reptiles, but specialize in breeding parrotlets. I plan on getting my bird there. I have been, and the birds aren't trained, but they are okay with being held and aren't afraid of people. The store will also do free wing clips.

Parrotlet's in Orange County, CA

Hey Max,

You could also try Omar's Exotic Birds in Lake Forest. Talk with Danielle, she works there and breeds parrotlets. She contacted me a few weeks ago because she had a clutch that was ready to be adopted. They are hand fed babies and probably very tame.

If you've never been to Omar's, it's worth it just to stop by. Most of the birds are out on open air perches and are extremely tame. The people that work there are very nice and really know a lot about birds.

I also recommended Magnolia to you earlier and I did buy two birds from them and am very happy with them. They probably are not as tame as they would have been if from Omar's, but, they do step up and are very healthy, so I'm happy!

Hey Dana D~
I got my Parrotlet from Danielle at Omar's! I picked her up right before Christmas and she is a love! HUGE difference to get a well handled/raised bird from the start. She is 10 weeks old and a super sweetheart! Loves to come out and get her head scritchies :D You might pay a little more...but I considered how long you have them in your family and felt it was worth it.
Nice to see so many members from the OC on the forum :) Good luck with your special birdies!

Congrats!

Hi!
Thanks for your reply and I'm so glad you were able to get one of Danielle's babies. She's such a nice girl and so helpful. We bought our two boys at Magnolia Bird Farm because Omar's didn't have any babies at the time. They are great and I'm so happy to have them in our family. We just moved them into their Loro flight cage today and they're having a blast flying around and playing with all the toy and rest area's we've set up for them.

Enjoy your baby!
