Hi, my birds hatched 4 eggs. One of them hatched about three days after the other 3. They are now between 2 & 3 weeks old and all seem to be doing fine. Number 4 is a lot smaller than the other three. I am planning on selling them to a bird store next week that will begin hand feeding them. My question is, "If I take the three older ones and leave the smaller for the mother to keep feeding, will she do it or abandon it because the other three are gone?"

Personally, I'd leave the feeding up to the parents. I've read that it takes a lot to keep up with a hand feeding schedule and you can still have the same results by socializing the babies from a young age.

I am not a breeder, but I think they would still keep feeding the baby. Since baby birds hatch on different days, the parents are probably used to the babies weaning at different times.
