Hello. I want to share my sadness. One of my beloved budgie Glory died on 21. 1. 2023 after the eye operation in Czech. I took her in october 2018 with some ortopedic handicaps... but I loved her and love her forever. In october or november last year I noticed her right eye is enlarged a little and has no reflex there. I went to some convenia injections with her after pseudomonas putida was found in swab of the mouth. It did not help, then I tried enrofloxacine a little, and doxycycline. I let her and her partner for quarantine at my vet in Czech / I am from SLovakia /. She was dosing various medications. Then pseudomonas was negative, then some Pantoea agglomerans was found, again healing... eye drops did not help and the eye go into the bad condition, swollen and almost dark. Also the left eye seemed to me more wet and had bad relfexes. So I decided for the operation despite it is risky. After the operation Glory started to wake up, but probably suffered a shock and died. I will love her forever and I hope she will have a good another life. I do not like words like R.I.P., etc... just having a good another life is a good wish. This is her photo from the previous owner in september 2018 probably. I feel paralyzed, like also I would not feel any support maybe in the family, or understanding...
Some birds are resistant towards antibiotics, what a pity.
The first photo is from the previous owner and the another 2 probably from the last year. Glory and Glory and her partner Bento to whom I would like to get some similar handicaped or older submissive female budgie.

Thank you. Fly high sounds strange to me, I use to say I hope she will have a good another life. I adopted her like a handicaped bird, the flying went worse, maybe due to some arthritis in the joints in the wings. That eye infection annoys me very much. I have 6 other budgies, I do not know how to choose such similar submissive older budgie female, or partially handicaped.

I hope it for any other bird, not just mine. Some time ago famous australian avian doctor Ross Perry told me when my budgie died : " let the door be opened for coming your bird back like a healthy one". Something like that.

I am sorry, you probably have more animals in the house.
How do you mean it with the choice? Sorry. That we can not ifluence that? My previous budgie Kukuciacik died in 2017 at 13 years old on kidney failure. Since that no other budgie who died reached that age. MAybe Glory was about 10, I do not know her age.
But what I hate is some questions from my mother like : why do you have 7 budgies, not just 2, why are you buying sick budgies, why such tiny budgie on the operation, etc.

So a dog and a parrotlet you have. Do some people also keep birds in flats ( apartments ), or I am the only one?
If I would not had been feeding my 13 years old male budgie with vitakraft seed sticks, maybe he would have been living longer. IT has many conservatives, I did not know it before. and it can be bad for kidneys.
Now my 6 budgies are flying in 2 rooms, also sleeping outside the cage. Sometimes I think that some stamping sounds from the neighbours over me which I hear because I have a sensitive ear..., that those sounds are scaring my budgies, but hopefully not.
I do not want to take sick bird deliberately, as soon as I already have some chronic chlamydia carrier here. IT would also cost many money, but if some older partially handicaped female budgie would occur for the partner of Glory, I would have taken her.
