Hello, is it normal for a Parrotlet to have his first molt at four to four and a half months? Sparrow appears to be molting. According to the breeder he was born first or second week of September 2022.

I think you'll find it varies by parrotlet, region, weather and daylight conditions. Harry molted a small molt when 4 or 5 months old in the spring and had a large molt in the fall. Now she molts pretty much whenever we have a major shift in weather pattern. She start/stopped molting several times last spring for instance. But, I live in Alberta and we get 40° swings here in a matter of days.

It's perfectly normal for them to molt at that age. Nothing to be concerned about. Pugsley started at 4 months too.
