Hope all is well with everyone! I have an approx 4-week old p’let with a curled toe on his back, right foot. I didn’t notice the curled toe upon hatching, although I did my best to not interfere with the nest box. Has anyone ever experienced a similar issue & may it be a vitamin deficiency? I’ve reached out to an avian vet for advice as well but thought I post on this forum in case anyone has some insight. Poor little guy can’t perch & I’ve been doing small stretches which seems to bring a lot of ease as it’s very tight from being withdrawn. Thanks for reading & offering any tips you may have🙏

I saw a vet make a cardboard foot and then used evt wrap to attach it to the foot it became almost normal and the check could walk on it

Oh poor little dude! Did you get any answers from your avian vet? I am sure it helped to exercise it a bit.

Poor baby.
I have not personally seen this issue but I have friends with chicken that have those issue. Look up the chicken lore on such issue. Those guys raise many more birds and see a lot of problems and have many home available solutions.

While doing research for the Sticky I wrote on discouraging egg laying and hormonal behavior I came across information that, if I remember right, said that birth defects like this can be caused by the mother bird not having enough calcium when she lays her eggs. This thread was posted in February? I missed it somehow. I hope a vet was able to correct it. Poor baby birdie.
