Still trying to get Simon to eat fruits and veggies...I have yet to have a bird that will eat fruit...I've been able to get carrots into my earlier birds (Conures), but that was it, even after introducing different things to them every day. But, I'm committed to trying everything for Simon now, so we'll see how it goes.

So if parsley is bad how is lovage good, which is related?
Carrots, celery, dill, and fennel are also related to parsley. And on the flip side, so are the highly toxic water hemlock and poison hemlock. It all depends on the particular phytochemicals in a given plant and even a particular part of the plant.

Lovage can be a photosensitizer, but so can plenty of other herbs and foods.

This is an old thread, but if anyone has questions about what is safe I recommend this list
http://www.parrot-and-conure-world.com/non-toxic-for-birds.html
I don't even recognize some of the thing above. When in question, don't!
And yes peppers are fine even the hottest ones!!
Onions and garlic no-no's. Other common toxic foods: mushrooms, avocado, chocolate, caffeine, fruit pits and apple or citrus seeds.
