I'm telling you! This year is starting out in a negative way! First, Ricochet gets sick/hurt, and my wife got news at 4:30 pm today that her department at work was going to close by the end of February! ( 5 people in this department).

This means she will not have her job. She was told that the company wanted to give her some options to stay with the company in other departments. There are some openings and she might be able to switch over.

It is tough for a 65 year old employee to find decent jobs because of age. She planned to work until she was 70. I had to retire early due to my bad health. We will have to watch our money closely. We have savings, but once you start taking money out, it goes fast!

This is just another setback in the working world. People can't even plan to stay with a company, any company, and maybe retire. Florida is one of the worse states for long careers. Oh, well! Pray!

Bryan will become famous soon enough

I am so sorry to hear that I hope everything works out. I know what it is like living on a small income it can be done but one or two bad events and you are struggling.

Thumbs up

Thanks for your replies!

Financially, we are okay. I will have to stop giving to charities for a while. I donate every month to one place or another. I like to donate to St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, South Dakota. The Sioux Indian children are in desperate need of just about everything! This school houses and schools the children from 1st to 8th grades.

I hope Vicki finds a position in her company. The company has 80,000 employees! They are the largest Hospital group in the US. Advent Health owns hospitals in all continental US states. Vicki works in the Home office and she an annalist who runs the computers that sets up new hospitals etc. She tests the computer programs for problems.

Thanks for letting me sound off. I just need to talk about this. My son contacted me and said he would be there for us if we needed him. He is a good man and very compassionate.

Ugh, sorry, that's hard. My parents retired earlier than planned because of similar circumstances. They found it hard to find work as they aged. Well, my mom. My stepdad didn't really look.

Hopefully Vicki can find something in the company. Fingers crossed!

Ugh - hoping that an opportunity in another department seems like it may fit Vicki's skillset. I know what it is like to be laid off, I have had it happen twice in the past.

Oh, wow! Twice! This is Vicki's 3rd time. When she got home today, she said that her boss said that there is an opening that Vicki can slide over to. It will be up to the new boss to let her do this. Vicki is friends with the new boss! Vicki will give her a new updated resume Monday. Keep your finger's crossed! Vicki is a really nice person. We have been married 45 years and have never, ever, thought about separation or divorce.

Thank You! I took her out to a nice dinner on me tonight. After dinner, she thanked me and said that it made her feel better. She had a nice steak dinner. She usually won't eat steak, but she said she was in the mood for something different.

I had an Oriental Chicken salad and it was good. I have been on a diet and lost 9 pounds this past week. I have eaten so much salad, I feel like a rabbit. Yeah! What's up, Doc?
