Thanks Bryan for mahogany pods

Bryan: Thank you for mentioning (more than once) how much Pip likes mahogany pods! The other day I was at the store and saw a small toy with a few of them on there. Luna hardly touches anything other than Kabob and sea grass, but I kept thinking about your past comments on the pods, so I tried it.

She likes it! She's started with one of the pods over any of the other soft stuff-but-crunchy on there. At the store i had the impression when I touched these that they were rather hard, but they're actually not!

Thanks!!!

Bryan will become famous soon enough

Pip eats them too I think. He will sometimes spit out the little chunks but he also seems to eat them at times too or at least chews on them for a while. Planet Pleasures has one toy with a large pod and then some cork and oyster shell bits Pip has started to chew on both of them too now. The pods are still his favorite thing though for sure.

I am going to try the kabobs the next time I order toys for him but he has a few toys with wood now and he does not like them.

Hi, I hope you are doing well! I have bought those kabobs and found out one thing...Ricochet or Bogie would not touch the kabobs that were multi-colored( with vegetable dyes). But, the plain whitish/fleshy ones were attacked and chewed all up!

So, if you order them, get the fleshy ones along with the multi-colored ones. Also, they wouldn't touch the large sized ones for medium parrots, but the smaller ones were chewed.

Just a suggestion....Dave

I have had the huge yucca logs in the past and my bird did not discriminate based on size when chewing it up. I also have not had a problem with the colored kabobs. It all depends on your individual bird.

Oh I forgot, she has a hanging loofah toy that came with her when I got her. The toy still exists! But she does like it, albeit sparingly. I will replace it when needed.

I have only tried the mini kabobs with her, both plain and colored. She liked both.

mahogany pods

Where do you buy mahogany pods that are bird safe? Can you wash them with other bird toys?

They are like a nut kind of thing so I don't think you would want to disinfect them with anything other than maybe vinegar. I buy toys already made from Planet Pleasures but you can buy them from some websites in the bird toy parts sections too. I think they sell them in the flower industry for arrangements but I would not trust those to be bird safe.

I will list some of the toys that Planet Pleasures has with them the first one is Pips favorite toy..

https://planetpleasures.com/mahogany-pods/
