bellfriend??!!

Got Sweetpea a new toy for Christmas... She had a sola atta ball with a bell on it that she shredded and fights with the bell now. I got her a calciyum braided thingy that has shells and a bell at the bottom. No sooner than I put her back in the cage from cleaning, she started fighting with the bell, then wigglenecking and regurgitated. I said oh no, not today and removed the bell immediately. She was upset but I told her there would be none of that nonsense in this house. So, I'm wondering if I should take out the other bell but I have never seen her do that with the other one. It's more violent... Is this hormones already??!! She's 5 months...

Thumbs up

Yes, it could be hormones. 5 months is on schedule for the terrible twos. Wriggle necking is something my Bogie did for 10 years before he passed. I didn't take it as a bad thing. When he went through his terrible twos, he did fixate on a toy in his cage and I removed that toy!

He had two bells that he rang like the dickens! They love bells. Parrotlets are called a Bell parrot sometimes. When Bogie or Ricochet played with the bell, it looked like they were mad at it. I let them play.

It looks like you have a playful bird.

Bryan will become famous soon enough

Pip has a toy that he loves and will wiggle neck for too. I took it out the first time he started it too but kept the toy. After a few months I put the toy back in and he still loves the toy and will play feed it a few times but not a lot. Most of the time he ignores it but you can tell it has a special place in his heart. It was the first toy he used when I first got home with him. He used it to hide next to and slept with it at night until I removed it when he started wiggle necking. Now he sleeps on his swing but in the evening before he goes to bed he will go sit with the toy for a bit and play on his other swing that is in that same area.

I know you have to worry about females a little more than the males with the egg laying but I just let Pip be now. He has this perch that he masturbates on every now and then too but I just ignore him it is not a constant thing at least.. hehe

I would say just leave it out for a few weeks then try it in a new spot and see how things go. I would not worry about the other bell right now either but again I only have experience with Pip/male parrotlets. With him he does not get aggressive or anything he does his thing and goes back to being his normal self after. (It might have been just excitement for a new toy.. hehe)

I just took the bell off and she's played with it for a little. I got her the calciyum swing too, she hasn't found the bell on that yet. She has never wigglenecked for me, only the bell and the husband. I am, however, the perfect target flight training landing pad... At least the top of my head is... Silly bird.
