What if YOU'RE sick?

Just a question I thought it might be good to put out there as I've been pretty sick recently. Do any of you worry about handling your bird if you're sick? Can they catch something from us? Some of the time I wasn't up to having Doc out much anyway but sometimes I think he rather enjoyed the extra time I was home from work...hopefully at no cost to his own health?

Humans do not transfer cold or flu viruses to their birds. In fact, there a only a couple of uncommon viruses that can be passed along to them, but it is very difficult to do so. Feel better and I bet that he enjoyed the extra attention!

Thumbs up

Sorry to hear that you are sick. Please get well!

You should not worry about making your bird sick, but if you are sick, please do not kiss your bird or let him kiss you. It is safer for both of you.

There are over 60 diseases we can get from birds. Too many to list. Just ask Google and you will get plenty of answers.

You don't have to worry about them if you are sick, enjoy the extra bird time

Birds shouldn't be exposed to any mammal saliva period regardless of if your sick or not, that's just an all the time rule.
