National Pet Bird Day - September 17th

September 17th is Happy National Pet Bird Day! This very special annual day of celebration was created in 2019 by the Bird Enjoyment Advantage Koalition (BEAK) to recognize all of the wonderful ways in which pet birds enrich our lives as well as educate on the responsibilities and commitment that come with having a companion bird.

According to the American Pet Products Association’s 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey, five percent of US households own a bird, equating to 5.7 million households.

Here is a cute image that I am sure we all understand in honor of the day (not my image, so feel free to share it)

Jackie,

I'm glad you brought this up! BEAK is a great, young organization!

I have an idea......Why don't we forum members, on September 17th, take some time to write in a short story/paragraph/etc.. on the advantages of having a parrotlet own us humans, or, write about anything we want to honor our p'letts.

What doe they mean to us?
How do they enrich our lives?
What have us humans learned from having invited our birds into our lives?

Just write anything down! Birds do not get the proper acknowledgements in this world. I know what they mean to me, especially Bogie.

Please take advantage of this. If you havn't posted in a while, please do so!

I will add the September 17th date into the book on Bogie. Thanks Jackie!

David

Thumbs up

Happy National Pet Bird day, Everyone!

I loved both of my parrotlets and dozens and dozens of budgies that I have had in the past.
I think birds are the best pet to have. They really look into your soul, so to speak. I have had all kinds of pets, but overall, the parrotlet has been the best for me!

God Bless All the pets and pet owners!
