Coconut hut

I put a coconut hut in Percy’s cage today. (gift from my daughter)
I noticed the rope on the inside of the shell has tape on the end of it.
I know that tape is dangerous for any bird to eat so I cut it off.
Percy is an explorer and super curious, I know the first thing she would do is eat the tape.
She loves the hut, she’s already playing in it!

This hut is not in her cage. It sets on a table with her play center.

For some reason I cannot click on that link to see the website. I would remove the tape if I were you just in case. Sounds like it is a winner though with her exploring it already!

I remove the tape first thing. I inspect everything and clean it before giving it to one of my pets.
It concerns me that tape is used on it.

The hut is on Amazon and it's the.

I like that! I have not seen one before with multiple holes. Very affordable too. You might want to consider leaving an Amazon review indicating something along the lines of your parrotlet loves it (or whatever is appropriate for your bird), but there was tape on the rope inside the shell and that future buyers may want to remove it.

Thanks, I didnít even think about leaving feedback.
I left the feedback. Hopefully people will read it. 😊

Pips coconut shell is in his cage, and has been his bedroom since day 2. He loves it, but only goes inside to go nite nite. I was concerned about the rope ends because the are spikey, but they donít seem to bother him. There wasnít any tape on the ends though. You are right, that could be dangerous.

Bryan will become famous soon enough

I bought Pip one of those with the ladder but he is not interested in going inside any. I have even put millet in there and he will just reach in and grab it out. Do you guys put anything in there like nesting materials? I don't have it in his cage but it is over by his hanging wall playstand.

He also has a grass hut that I bought for him in his cage and he does not go into it either.. idk

I havenít put anything in it. But Iíve been wondering if it holds water and making it into a bath! Maybe when it gets a little warmer Iíll try it.

I donít know why Pip took to the coconut shell with ladder, but he seems to feel it is cozy. I also have one of those teepee things which he uses as a landing pad. The only time he goes inside that is when we are driving in the car and he goes inside it and balances sometimes. I do put a few wicker balls inside it and he likes to throw them out so I have to put them back.

Yes, remove the tape. It is just there to keep ends of rope from fraying. We sold a ton of those at the bird shop I worked at.
