Male or Female?

Hi



I'm a new parrotlet owner and the breeder told me i have two females, but now the pacific blue parrotlet starts to look a lot like a male so I'm not sure.



Can you guys help me?

The blue one does kind of look male to me but you will see the blue under the wing not top. Like the picture of the green bird flying at the top of these forums with his wings out. (on computer version anyay)

See what everyone else thinks but seems like a male to me. It would be strange though that a breeder would sex them wrong so..idk

The blue one is female there is blue under the wing but not the dark cobalt blue like the males have. Pip is napping but I have a picture with the dark blue on his tail he has this on the underside of his wings too...

Your blue parrotlet is a female. Both male and female parrotlets can have blue eye shadow and blue rumps. Only males have the darker blue on the flight feathers.

Its a common mistake but this bird is absolutely without question 100% a female. The markings are not the vibrant cobalt blue that accompanies a male as illustrated in the comparison photo posted.

Great photo Bryan. The male cobalt is unmistakable on most mutations. The most difficult is the American White but otherwise it looks like this.
