iggy

so, my husband and i bought a pacific blue parrotlet 3 days ago. for context, he is 9 to 10 weeks old.

and we introduced fresh, steamed veggies yesterday, and he loves, anything green. when bedtime approached and we had already given him veggies for a snack, he got very cuddly and began talking. he knows "gimme scritch?", "i love you.", "stop it", "awwww", and, my favorite, "baby?" (i'm pregnant).

is this normal for a p'let to talk this early?

Hi!

Yes! P'letts can talk at this age! My first p'lett, Bogie, talked at age 10 weeks! His first words were, " Yum yum yummm! "
Ricochet, my second parrotlet, said " Pretty Bird " only after less than an hour after I picked him up from the breeder.

My wife and I had an hour and a half drive home after picking up Ricochet from the breeder. He was sitting in a small cage on my lap and he was chirping and having a good time. He had been hand fed from hatch day, so he was very friendly with a beautiful disposition. He was named Basil by the breeder, but we changed his name a day after we got him. On his way home for the first time, I started talking to him and he jumped to the side of the cage as if to get a kiss. I kissed him through the bars and said, " You are a pretty bird " over and over. He said, " Pretty Bird " as clear as day! A few minutes later, he said " Kiss kiss " to me several times.

Before he was 6 months old, he said 25 words and phrases! I couldn't get him to say, " Ricochet " , but he would say, " Shay " instead.

Keep working with your birdy. Say each word exactly the same way each time.

Stay safe and give your p'lett a kiss from me and my wife.

Anya will become famous soon enough

That's awesome that Iggy is talking so much already! And, he's eating green veggies? Great! It took mine about 6 months before she would regularly eat them. Sounds like you got yourself a good one there!

Congratulations on your new parrotlet! That is great that your new bird talking already. Some parrotlets talk, but many do not.

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby! He/she decided to make debut early, I hope baby and mommy and daddy are all doing well and hanging in there. I'm sure this is a very difficult time, I imagine baby is in the NICU for a while. I'm so sorry mama I can only imagine how difficult that is, I pray the days and weeks go by quickly and strengthen your little one.
