Exclamation ~~~How Bogie And I Did It ! ~~~

~~~Hello~~~
Wow ! As I gathered all the information for the book on Humphrey Bogart ( Bogie ) Miller, my first parrot-let, I was amazed at how much was written about him over the ten years he lived! There was written things by me, of course, but there was a lot of written replies by the forum members who followed his life's situations. He was truly Blessed. I am truly Blessed. This forum is truly Blessed, too!
Bogie was five years old when I first introduced him to this forum in 2013. Man, what a trip he took us on! Absolutely astonishing! I thank God I had enough sense to have started a daily life journal on Bogie. Not only did I keep a very detailed day to day diary on his life, every 7-10 days I wrote a compilation/summary about the life he was leading. This summary is the saving Grace in my book! I included descriptions of all the emotions Bogie and I went through together.
An example of this can be seen in the next sentence I write. " Bogie flew to his cage and stayed in it for a long time." It reads like a simple sentence. But, what state of mind was he in when he flew to his cage and stayed in it? What was he experiencing emotionally or psychologically during this time of flight? This is the crux of the matter. I wrote what we all were experiencing with Bogie when he flew. Was I mad at him for something or were we playing games, etc.? Or, was he in a hurry to go night night?
In other words, I wrote about him as if I was Bogie, himself. But not in a first person point of view. So, as I look back at what I
entered into the journal, I had an idea about Bogie's state of mind ( as well as anyone could understand it! ).
I am working to get the book sell-able. It is not just a pile of words in different chapters. It is his and my life we are portraying! He was the most interesting avian I had ever seen or known! He was in to everything and was the most emotional of all God's creatures! He was magnificent ! He was... Bogie!
( Coming out in print later this year! ) .
Possible Titles~~" Along Came Bogie ! " OR " The Incredible Life Of Bogie ! "
David
The way you write, it should be an interesting book for bird/animal lovers.
Title is tricky-----not sure. Just Bogey might be ok.
HI! I thought the same way you did about the name " Bogie " for a title. My publishing agent thought that Bogie's name might get confused with the actor in which Bogie was named after ( Humphrey Bogart ) . In the beginning of the book, I refer to using the actor's name to name my Bogie, even though the spelling is different.
The cover of the book will have a parrotlet theme surrounding a central figure of Bogie himself ( from a picture taken of Bogie...or it may be an artists rendition from a picture of Bogie ) . There may be a collage of parrotlets somewhere imposed on the front cover.
There will be a special Dedication page in the front of the book just before the first chapter. This page will be dedicated to all the parrotlets in the Parrotlet Rainbow Bridge.
But there will be one special p'lett honored, named BODIE! He was a member of this forum until he passed at age 18 years and 2 months. I have worked with his owner and she answered many questions I asked about BODIE.
I will also mention the organization that will receive any profits left over after expenses. It will be an organization picked after careful thought. I may ask for suggestions, but most likely my wife and I will decide the best way to disperse the profits.
I'm looking forward to reading it, too! :-)
Wow! There was a bird on the forum that lived 18 years? That's incredible.
Thanks, Ozzie and Anya,
My wife says this forum is a good source of help for me. She wants me to publish the book, too. But, we have had a successful agreement for 46 years.... I don't bug her and she doesn't bug me about things. Good or bad! We are happy.
I'll try to keep up my efforts.
David
