My funny little Corby

I wrote this post this morning but I don’t think I ever posted it as I don’t see it anywhere. But if I did and it’s here somewhere twice I’m so sorry! Lol

My Corby is an interesting little guy... I can see now it’s not me he’s afraid of it’s just my hands. Or any hands.

He will not come to my hands right now for a walnut but he will let me feed him through the cage so I’m happy for that. And I’m hoping, in time, he will come to my hand again. Right now, he needs some time to recover.

If I open the door of his cage in, so it forms the little platform, he will sit there by the open door, with me just inches from him and we talk. . Things need to be on his terms. And that’s ok. I will take all the advice I got here about luring him out with treats and toys and helping him understand if he wants to come out he will be safe.

This morning he did that regurgitating wiggle again. He hasn’t done that in a few weeks. He did it on and off for a full 10 minutes, longer than I ever seen him.
But he did it with his back to me as before he was facing me. Maybe he is dissing me! lol.

I do feel I know him better now. And that s a good place to begin again!

Bryan will become famous soon enough

It sounds like he is back to normal after his moving day

Just keep working with him it might take longer but you will get there. Keep the door open when you can so he can venture out if he wants. I did that with Pip at first and one day I turned and there he was sitting outside of his cage. It wasn't long till we were working on him flying to me.

Pip rarely steps up on my hand. Itís mostly to a sleeve. He does like when I put a sunflower seed in my palm. He will climb on my hand then.
I actually have a light weight terry cloth hoodie which he gets all excited when I put it on because that is my bird shirt. He steps up on that always.

Gigi has really came around and we have her out and she is in us and plays but she does NOT like hands! We have our sleeve over our hands and she will sit on us. She just started moving over to my hand to preen. But I can’t put my hand out and have her come. Ouch bite is coming! But if she is on my arm with sleeve and moves to my fisted hand she is fine. She did move to a finger I had out and that was great! Slowly slowly it gets better. But it’s her timing. We still wear certain shirts because she will preen our skin and it can hurt. We have our protective gear on 😊.

It’s so weird because as scared as Corby is of hands, he will sit on my hand and eat a walnut. I guess the lure of the walnut is so great (like me with chocolate ) it helps him overcome his fear a bit?
