I have introduced Jules and Rio to controlled play time. I was originally going to wait a bit but it just did not work out that way.

JackieRTP will become famous soon enough

What cuties! Hopefully all goes well since you opted not to quarantine Rio for at least 30 days

There is a risk. But I know Jules background and health and do not see an issue that would not be there in 30 days.

The breeder runs a closed shop with no new birds added to her aviary for 3 years. She also does not go to bird shows. etc.

Still the breeder agrees with you. This is my risk and poor judgement.

Thus far it has been interesting.
The meeting started of with chirping between cage in other rooms.
Then the ignored each other.
This was followed by Rio aggressing toward Jules
Then something unexpected happened. Rio is 9 weeks old and little bird begging habits. This click something in Jules and now she seems to mothering him.
Some wiggle neck feeding from Jules to Rio we are trying to stop.
She loves to preen him. She is now allowing him to preen her.
Things are moving fast.
It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Anya has a spectacular aura aboutAnya has a spectacular aura about

You of all people know that birds hide illnesses and you are willing to take risks? Do you know that you are not even supposed to wash the quarantine birds bowls out with any of your other birds bowls? And, here it appears that you have them eating from the same bowl. You should not have them sharing water, food, toys, or anything else right now.

Thumbs up

That was one colorful picture. Chances are, the birds will not develop any sickness, since you know both backgrounds. The breeder would have told you of any sicknesses as far as what Rio was subjected to, so I think you will be okay.

Like you said, you'll keep an eye on the wriggle necking and I believe you when you say this.

Night night!

Such cuties. I am happy for you Ozzie.
Sometimes quarantine is easier said than done. I've added birds 4 times and intended on quarantine each time and then didn't do it. Sometimes you know the rules but calculate the risk is low enough its worth taking anyway. Its just something everyone has to decide for themselves like all things we do. I'm glad Jules will have a companion for the remainder of her days. I know Lilly and Tobie were like peas in a pod from the very beginning. Even when he was sick i decided it was better not to separate them. From what i guessed by his symptoms it was not something he would pass to her and if it was she was already exposed anyway. The were able to be together until the end. Funny I thought if anything Lilly would be the first to go because of her past issues but shes still going strong. Its almost a year now since we lost Tobie.
Sorry for the derail. Anyway it makes me happy to see them together.
