Well so far this morning Pip has decided to just sit on top of his cage and do nothing after his visit to see me. He normally goes back into his cage and plays with his toys after but he is just sitting on top of his cage resting.

It kind of has me worried a little if I'm honest..

I went and put him back into his cage after taking the picture and he is playing with his toys like normal now. I just never seen him sitting like that outside of his cage it had to be like 15-20 minutes of just sitting there.

I guess I need to figure out a few toys for the top of his cage without blocking the light.

I don't know what it is about target training but Pip just does not get it. He is afraid of the sticks and then once I do get him to go for the end of it he only does it a few times and just quits.

The first time I tried he was scared of the wooden spoon I was using so I switched to a clear pipette. He never would progress any on that over me just sticking it in his face and him reluctantly touching it. (This was when he was still in his cage and not coming out on his own)

I bought some wood skewers today thinking the smaller wood might not scare him as much but he was still frightened by them. I spent most of his millet today just getting him to go around the stick at all. I did finally get him to touch the stick three times before we where out of millet. I guess we will just have to go slow with it.

I broke down and got another little bit of millet this evening to continue the work on target training. It took a little bit of work but Pip has finally figured it out and is moving around to get the skewer. I thought he would never figure this out but it just took a little more time.

Now that he has the concept down we can start working on other things...

Amazing progress, Huey sits on his playgym for a 1/2 hour watching Jeopardy every night.

if he was checking out your bowl you might want to offer some of what you are eating on his playgym, they are flock birds and they do eat together. We share our dinner every night with Huey.

I am not real sure how I feel about that still. I do want us to bond but I do not really like the idea of him around my food like that.

He is already overly excitable with the millet when we are training. Not in a bad way but he for sure knows where it is at all times and will hop on the hand he knows it is in and makes him lose focus at times.

I just know he would be flying to my hands when I am trying to eat. I guess it would not hurt to test it out and see though.

Ahh okay. I bought Pip a few small glass custard dishes for his playstand. They were kind of deep so I went back and got him new glass ashtrays that were shallow and heavy so he would not tip them over. (lets hope he does not take up smoking now.. haha)

The ashtrays are a little slippery for him so I might go back to the custard dishes though. They have a smaller width rim and it seems he is able to hang onto them better. (still searching for better options)

This is what I have, they are tiny and plastic. Huey does not climb on them but eats from them. I see our local food store has the 96 piece set in stock for sale.

I bought them at christmas tree shop last year

Pip's new toys showed up in the mail today so he is spending the day playing with his toys. He still loves his favorite chew toy though he about has the roof completely off now.

Toy Overload...
