This is a video of a beautiful Kakariki.

Ohh yes! I WAS torn between a parrotlet and a kakariki - but in the end, the parrotlet "won" I love the kakariki's too (and they are cheaper and easier to buy than a parrotlet here - but - the red head markings on a lot of the different mutations is not something I especially like. Also, they live 10-15 years on average, and the parrotlet can get to 20 years, which was just another reason to go parrotlet

I did see a female kakariki that was split to blue and looked very similar in colour to the pacific parrotlets. She was stunning - but so was her price tag! ($600). They are stunners, no doubt!

Well, I am glad that the parroltet won! I am sure Squirtles is too!

The blues are gorgeous! I had read that Kakariki's were "cheep" in Australia. Not here. I just quickly looked to see if there were any breeders near me and there is one two hours from me. No prices listed. But I found other breeders listing prices from $350.00 to $800.00 dollars. Whoo! A little rich for my blood. But, after this darn pandemic is over, I want to take a weekend down to San Diego. Maybe I will go check them out.

Squirtles appears to LOVE almonds - he (literally) trips over his feet in his hurry to get to it! The supermarket had a packet of ever so fine organic "flaked almonds", so I got a pack. (no added salt - just almond)

I had him on my big bed and from one corner (I was at the head) I had a flake of almond. He was ignoring me ... and THEN he saw it. He tripped over himself twice which was funny, the little clown that he is! His feet were a tad caught up in the bedding, I think - but dang it looked funny. Soft landing so no hurt!
this image reminds me of Melody running to the sink, sometimes she would be so excited she would slip on the counter and do a little face dive, but she didn't care she just kept going... Lol
I filmed it in SLO mo once it was hilarious!!
I've never tried almond I like the idea of the slivers.
