Update on Micah and me

Hi all! I have been around but not super active lately, so I thought I'd do an update post. As I discussed previously, Micah and I moved to a new apartment. It's been great! I bought some herbs but sadly the apartment (which is garden level, sort of half above ground half below) didn't get enough light for them. (As an aside, if anyone can help me figure out what sorts of plants are safe for birds and need low levels of light, I'd appreciate it!). Micah has taken very well to the new place. It's smaller, but there's no dog here so he has free run of it. To him it seems bigger! He stayed with my sister's boyfriend for a weekend over the summer while I went to a wedding, and that went great! I have a conference to go to in January, so hopefully that goes well again. School has been keeping me very busy, but it's enjoyable so that's okay. Micah's been molting pretty heavily, and has his annual vet appointment next week. I'm hoping he'll be finished molting by then, as he's been pretty grumpy and I don't want him biting the vet! Here's a picture of the poor itchy boy:

Glad things are going good for you

Pip is going through a molt too and it is heavier than he has had in the past. I wonder sometimes where all the feathers come from.. hehe

Ricochet is molting before winter. The other day I wrote about " Pin Feather City ". My wife found a bunch of pinnies on top of Ricochet's head and neck. Micah is such a pretty bird! Love his colorings!

Thanks for the update on you and Micah! Glad to hear that you moved into a new place. As for bird safe plants, this is a good list but I am not sure what likes low light. https://birdhism.com/blogs/news/comm...e-house-plants. Rio is molting also and I was able to help him a ton with the pin feathers on his head this weekend.

Thanks everyone, it's good to hear from you too! I wish I had more hours in the day so I could keep up better here. Seems like everybody's molting at the moment! I only have one bird so sometimes I forget that there are common times for that. Jackie, thanks for the plant list!

Such a pretty bird. Kai is also molting. He was covered with head and neck pin feathers through all of October. He’s looking and feeling much better the last couple of days but still has quite a few pinnies.

Well, the vet visit could have gone better. He tried to bite the vet and got himself toweled. First time ever. I've never seen him so upset. But he got a clean bill of health!
