Dusty and Smokey are 9 months old now. They now have a nice large play cage. They also have 2 separate sleeping cages where they are kept separate at night. They mostly play with each other. I have tried to train them to step on my hand but all they do is run from me if I put my hand near them. It is not because I didn't try. The first few months I had them I trained them separately every day. Then my mom got real sick and I didn't have the time to spend with them for the past 5 months. I was at her home taking care of her. My mom died recently and now the birds seem not to want to be bothered with me. They get excited when they go to their play cage every morning and they play with each other for most of the day. Around 1 hour before bedtime, I let them loose in the living room and now they have started climbing up my vertical blinds and they are ruining them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep them off the blinds? My only alternative is to not let them out and they do love to come out of the cage. I understand they do not realize they are ruining the blinds, but these blinds cover one whole wall in my living room and are too expensive to replace. Any suggestions?

I have two new Parrotlets. Dusty is blue and Smokey is green. Dusty bites me very hard and won't let me hold him to take him to the training room. Smokey lets me hold him and goes willingly to the training room with me. They will step on my finger in the training room and onto the dowel, but as soon as I take them back to their cage, they fly away from me if I put my hand near them. How can I make Dusty stop biting me and make both of them tame. I keep them in separate cages, but for about an hour or two a day, I let them play together in a play cage. They are brothers and were hatched on the same date (Feb. 24, 2012). Any help would be appreciated.
