The question I have is that she is almost 4 months old and still has her ID leg band on. Is this something that is wise to leave on forever, or should I have it removed?

I am having a severe case of MBS. I think it was brought on by the sudden and accidental death of my kids' parrotlets. My son has his new little parrotlet home and it's such a sweet and cute bird. My daughter's will be home soon when it's ready.

The thing is that I now want my own bird even though we have two budgies too. I think they're fantastic birds, but they're not as tame as I would like. It has taken me over a year to get them to where I can pet one of them once in a while. They do talk and play so they're very entertaining. However, I want the same kind of interaction with a bird that my son and my daughter have.

I was looking at this Blue Masked Lovebird and they're not as easy to find tame and hand raised (or at all) around here. I would get another parrotlet, but I have always wanted a masked lovebird. I really like the way they look. They look like funny little crooks.

My husband doesn't want another bird at least until we move. We won't be moving for nearly a year so I'm not sure I want to wait that long. Should I even try to get my husband to change his mind or should I wait at least another month to see if my MBS goes away?

I would like to get Zoe a HQ cage. Since they have the best pricing I called Birds Comfort today to find out how much it would cost for shipping. The phone was just answered "Hello" no business name. The lady was very nice. WHen I gave her my zip code she told me that I live close to the warehouse (Baltimore). If I wanted to pick it up I could save the $25 shipping. I asked her the address of the warehouse and she will not give it to me until I pay for it first. I want to make sure that it is not to far from my house. So my question is has anyone had any problems with this company before. I went to the BBB and it has an F rating. I just want to make sure that this is a legit company.

Thanks.

Yesterday, I decided to try "dancing bird" with Rory. I had gotten bored with targeting. I wasn't really sure what was easy enough as a "second trick" so I attempted to get her to turn all the way around on the edge of her basket. And just basically had her follow the target around. And she did awesome. She was following and turning around in both directions after a few minutes of work yesterday. So today I took her out for some play time and tried to see if she still got it....and we "warmed up" for a about 5-10 minutes....and just as I was turning off the camera the first time...she decided she would just offer "dancing bird" in hopes of a treat!!:D So of course I had to turn the camera back on?!?! So here is a video link of her doing "dancing bird" all by herself!:D

Don't mind the crazy person (me!) laughing and being all excited...I am easily amused!!:p

Hi all!
As happy as I am that my new parrotlet wants to be on my shoulder and stay there all day, sometimes, he has to be in his cage. He is fine until he sees me but when he does, he gets super excitable and now I am getting fearful that he may actually injure himself trying to get out to me. He is frantically fighting with the doors of the cage (smart little bean knows where I get him out). If I am not vaccuming or cooking or something that may injure him, I am happy to have him out but there are times that he needs to go in his cage. There are lots of toys, fresh food and water in there for him. Suggestions?

Hey everyone. I haven't posted in here in quite some time, but I'm back again!! My p'let (Kirby) is going to be a year old next month. Lately, he's been biting REALLY hard (to the point of drawing blood). I noticed that he's moulting, but he isn't usually too bad during that time. Is it maybe hormonal? I just hope it's a phase bc I'm almost afraid to take him out bc he bites so freakin' hard!!! Should I leave him alone for a few days and let him calm down? He's my best friend when he's getting hemp seeds!!!

The first photo, is...Jazzy! What the heck? this is obviously the same person I
got Jazzy from, now advertising another parrotlet. BUT, she has JAZZY's photo
(that I sent to her showing her how well Jazzy is doing) as the ad! And, she
says she is a green rump, not a pacific, which is NOT true. I had questioned
whether she was a green rump or a pacific when I was emailing with her about
Jazzy before I got her, and the seller (breeder?) didnt know. I guess she
assumed I knew what I was talking about and is now calling the bird a green
rump. This is bizarre...she told me that Jazzy had a clutchmate, a male, that
she was keeping, but that she didnt have time for both birds, so was selling
Jazzy. She also said she was NOT the breeder of the birds, but got them from her
friend. Okay, so now we know she wasnt on the up and up, but I cant believe she
is using a picture of MY bird to advertise another bird. How deceitful. Should
I email her and say something, or just let it go? Im pretty stunned, and
appalled....GEEZ!

Hello everyone!

As some of you know i posted this morning on Weezy's odd head feathers. I talked about my Boyfriend thinking that Kiwi was traumatizing him and wondered if this could cause the odd feathers. Well, tonight i opened their cage in a closed room so they could fly around and sit on the cage as they love to do. To my astonishment i went in to see them and i witnessed something that schocked me. Weezy was on to of the cage and Kiwi was inside. Kiwi stood on a perch and BIT Weezy so hard that Weezy jumped up and made a noise. He then wouldn't walk on his little leg and held it up under his belly. What should i do?? My two fellows share a cage.. is this normal behaviour? I was really worried. I was slightly upset and decided to put Weezy in birdie prison. I took an empty close basket and set Weezy inside (while it was upside down on the floor) as a prison. I went to eat and when i returned Weezy had escaped from prison!!! What should i do though? Should i buy a second cage pronto? What can i do until i buy one to stop them from hurting eachother? and could that be why is feathers seem odd? Could he be scared of Kiwi? Please help!!!

Hi there.
One of our two parrotlets steps on the hand to eat millet. I tried (for the first time) today to take the millet in the other hand calling "UP". She does move to the other hand but I'm not sure she learns and responds to the command. As the millet takes time to eat and she can spend some time nibbling on it.

I think it may be better to give her a treat that is more immidate and quick. Much like giving a sugar cube to a horse. What do you think? Or is there a better way to teach her the "UP" command?

Can they tame down again once they start a bad behavior? I'm wondering because my son's bird, Sunshine, is very tame, but he has started to bite me when I try to get him to step up in his cage. I tried to get him to step up a few more times today, but he tried to bite again. He never used to try and bite when stepping up. Today he even tried to bite my son when he asked Sunshine to step up.

I'm sure he dislikes me because I keep trying the play dead trick with him. He came home from the breeder before he was good at playing dead. He would just barely do the trick because he just started learning it when we came to take him home. I was told by his breeder to keep practicing with him so I would try a couple of times a day after playing with him. Sometimes he was kind of okay with it because he wouldn't try to pull himself up by his beak right away and sometimes he wouldn't like it at all. I won't be doing it again since I think it made him a biter when he was so gentle before.

I'm afraid that I have ruined him at least with me. I'm hoping he stops the biting behavior when stepping up for my son. Sunshine is his bird. My son was able to tame down a wild and aggressive parrotlet (his previous one) to a sweet and non-biting bird (to him). Is it possible to get very sweet bird turned biter, to a non-biting and calm bird again?

I won't be interacting with him except to talk to him and give him scritches or a treat when my son brings him over. I'm fine if he is just civil with me. I want him to at least remain civil because I may have to take care of him sometimes over his lifespan.
