Sprout Needs Help!!

Hello there. I just bought a parrotlet the other day from a lady that I don't know very well and when I brought little Sprout into my house, got him all settled in, and sat down to talk to the little buddy, I noticed something wrong with his foot.

It looks as though his foot has grown all together into a sort-of ball-looking way. It's very strange and I haven't seen anything like it! I own many birds and none of them have issues like this. I'm not quite sure what to do with the little fella and was wondering if anybody who knows more about parrotlets than I do could help!

Maybe the vet needs to look. That's what I would do.

Yea, I would take it to the vet too...but in the meantime, can you post a picture?

Does it look like a mutation or could it be that the toes are just 'glued' together with dirt?

the only time I've ever had a bird's foot form into a ball was with one of my parakeets who was quite old and had a tumor pressing on a nerve which would force the claw into a ball. I hope that is not the issue with your parrotlet...possibly just a malformation of the foot...please keep us updated.
