Hey so I've been trying my hand at making toys for my little Quorra, and was wondering what kinds of materials can be used for them. I'd like to know what people are using other than the usual rattan/wood/store bought plastic.

So far I've tried loofah, paper tubes, cinnamon, rawhide and scrunched up paper with various types of natural rope. I just recently tried sourcing for other materials and I've used the netting that you get when you buy garlic at the supermarket and stuffing that with seed. When she picks at it she can get the seed out, but I wonder what you guys think in terms of safety.

Also I've given her a peach and apricon tea teabag that she enjoys a lot. It smells fantastic and is caffeine free, what do you guys think of that too?

The Garlic bag seems like a good idea to me. I would just watch that she doesn't get any toes stuck in it. I would take it out if she does. But seems fun to me.

I love your idea! But to be honest, I think I'd worry a little about little toes getting caught in the netting.

Sorry, forgot to add about the tea bag. I personally wouldn't give my baby tea weather it says caffeine free or not, but I feel I am a little on the paranoid side about giving him things to chew on/eat haha!

I love the seed bag idea. I think I might be a little paranoid about toes too. Maybe you could hang it up with leather thong and insert a small stick or dowel he could stand on at the bottom? I am pretty sure if Simon could hand upside down to eat from it that would be his preference....Just thinkin'........

I've used some children's toys that I got at car boot sales, taken the chunky beads, rings and all different kinds of things off soft baby rattles and string them on with chewable things, like the bull rush balls from pet shop 99p. mine love to rip them apart.
