I purchased this tray at my local Target store yesterday, and I think it's going to be perfect to use as a base for a hanging gym. I think it's a great size - 19" X 13 1/2" X 2" deep.

I'm going to use two chains on each side so it doesn't tip over when hung, and the four chains will connect to one ring at the top which I will place on a hook on my kitchen ceiling. I'm planning on attaching a boing to the center ring, and hanging toys from each of the four chains. Hopefully, I'll get creative as I go, and welcome suggestions!

I love the tray since it's the perfect size, easy to clean, and I won't have to drill any holes to attach the chains. I will be able to store it easily under the p'lets Marvelous cage along with their table top King's acrylic gym. The tray is deep enough to hold messes, but not so deep that I can't see the p'lets if they are walking around on the base (where I will probably keep treat and water bowls).

That is great that you are making your own hanging gym! I enjoy making my own toys as well. It makes me happy when Diego actually likes the toys that I make! :p I definitely want to see pics when you are finished.

I know you said something about any ideas anyone might have...? Well, I came across this site, http://www.parrotplayworld.com, that's selling some very unique hanging gyms that might be of some help to you. They are pretty and seem like something that might spark some creative ideas. One of their designs called "Zimbabwe" are made for smaller birds. Maybe check it out!
