If you are looking for a nice size cage that isn't as large as a flight cage, the Chateau cage is on sale right now at Petco for $143.99 and you get free shipping and another 10% off with the promo code TALK10. This cage has 1/2" bar spacing.

I have the XL Chateau and I love it, but the bar spacing is 6/10". This is fine for two of my parrotlets, but wouldn't have worked for my daughter's parrotlet, since she's a bit tinier.

The Gable and Veranda cages also have 1/2" bar spacing.

I have a review up on the XL Chateau page along with two pictures.

Thanks for the heads up! I was going to order a king's cage for $200 on ebay... Maybe I'll get the chateau instead! I was going to get an HQ, but the store I went to said she doesn't carry them because of lead and zinc. I do like the more decorative looking cages than the plain ones.

UnicornLady:

I think you were misinformed about the zinc and lead in the HQ cages.

I have contacted BirdsComfort.com, HQ's distributor, and they are going to e-mail a toxicology report later today. I'll post it when I receive it.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE my Marvelous cages. They are a breeze to clean with the large front door, and nothing seems to stick to the powder coating. This is also the first cage where I actually use the seed catchers. And the birds love the little door "on" the front door that pulls down. I call it their landing strip. LOL

Although the regular Chateau (bar space 1/2") is not as wide as a flight cage, it's still one inch deeper inside, which allows plenty of room for toys.

I highly recommend Marvelous cages, but if you want to read more about them, you can do a search on Marvelous Cages at the Avian Avenue website. (Hope it's ok to name that website.)

I just wanted to mention that I really enjoyed the HQ double flight cage that I had, but those small doors make cleaning a bit difficult, imo. However, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

Here are 2 toxicology reports on the HQ cages.
I was told by the Birds Comfort rep that the paint in the HQ cages is absolutely safe.

Here's the links:

and

I love my 2 HQ cages and have recommended them to lots of people, so I'm relieved to know your store was misinformed. You might want to give them copies of these reports, and they can contact BirdsComfort.com if they have questions.

Thank you, jodeg! I thought they were safe from all the reccomendations on this forum. I know you guys wouldn't use them if they weren't safe for your birds.

I thought this had been discussed a long time ago, but couldn't find the info quickly, so contacted Birds Comfort, and they were really helpful. The person I contacted said that a competitor probably started this rumor! Who knows! There are copy cat cages out there. If you go to BirdsComfort.com and check out the HQ Flight Cage, further on down that page is a lengthy discussion, with pictures and everything, about the differences to look for between the HQ's and the copy cat cages. Interesting reading!

Those of us with HQ's can rest easy!

Hello friends,

By the way, HQ cages and Marvelous cages are made in the same factory.
