I am thinking about installing new carpet throughout the house. I'm concerned about the fumes. Anyone have experience with this? I'll most likely wait until warmer weather when I can keep the windows open. It will be whole house installation. Any thoughts would really be appreciated.

Carpeting can off gas for as long as 2-3 months so it might be a wise idea to see if you can find someone who can keep your birds for that length of time. I had to replace all the carpeting in my house and I opted for laminate flooring. There's something new out on the market now that I just installed in my kitchen and laundry room called Allure. It's similar to laminate but it has waterproof backing. It looks nice, is very comfortable to walk on and is not cold like laminate or ceramic tile.

I agree with Callie the fumes of new capet lasts a long time. We have to paint inside and just added on a room so decided to wall paper instead of painting that part. Now we are waiting until new spring summer when it is warm enough to move the birds to an outside building we have to do the painting in the house. By the way if you have no other place I will offer to keep your bird I am near Weatherford.
