How many people were able to hand train their parrotlet?

Sam was hand trained for about the first half of his life. For some reason he stopped wanting to come out. Sadly, during his last days he loved coming out and cuddling with us. I feel he knew he was dying so he wanted to spend his last days close to us. :o

Emmi was already hand trained when I got her. She rode around on my shoulder in the pet store.. and always wants to be out and on me here at home. She comes downstairs to do the laundry with me (I live in an apartment building) and will fly from her cage to wherever I am if she's able to.

She's not so keen on being handled by anyone but me. She'll sit on someone elses finger if she's encouraged to.. but she wont willingly go to anyone else. That's ok tho.. I live on my own anyway! Hee.

It's funny how she's trustworthy enough to sit on your finger willingly, but she needs to be encouraged to sit on someone else's finger. She must have really bonded with you. :)

Skweek is fine with most people. I can pretty well do anything with him, and he will not bite, unless its time to go back in the cage after our evening cuddle session. He seems to dislike some people for no apparent reason, and makes it known by basically ignoring them or attacking them.

It seems if one spends some time talking to him and giving him treats instead of shoving thier fingers in his face, he warms up to most. A woman who works at the studio and "Hates Birds!" is his best friend. He cuddles up to here and tugs on her earings. He's a trip!

It's funny how they choose certain people over others. :p

Yes, I think she's my baby and no one elses. Heh. She melts into a puddle of feathers when she gets scritches.. we're trying to learn how to play 'dead bird' at the moment. She doesn't quite understand that I want her to stay still when she lays on her back tho.. hehe.

Since I got Baby Blue at a pet store he was used to being handled and went to my finger right after I got him home. He will go to my mom and my husband, but doesn't always like being near my son (which I don't blame him since my son is a 3 yr old hyper boy!). I only allow my son to pet Baby Blue when he is cuddling in my hand...I don't want to make the bird too nervous and, I don't think it would be safe to let my 3yr old handle such a delicate little birdie!!
