My bird was sitting on my shoulder when she made a little soft noise and then sort of sneezed. She occasionally makes that noise, but today water came out too. it landed on my hand and was a perfectly clear little droplet. Is this normal? She has absolutely no other signs of illness. Her poops are normal, she's been eating and running around as normal and her nostrils are clear, and that was the only time she made the noise today. There are no other birds around to infect her. Does she need to be taken to the vet? (Not going to the vet would be much, much better as I am ridiculously short on cash this month and in the middle of final exams.) However, if she needs to go, she needs to go...

I'm not one to say how much sneezing is cause for worry, but Navi sneezes all the time (just one sneeze at a time, no fits or anything). They are also at times quite wet. Her favourite thing to do is to wait until my mouth is open for whatever reason and then sneeze directly into it, or to sneeze on my food. It's pretty gross, but I appreciate the humour.

I actually did ask my vet about it, and she basically told me "Yeah, they'll do that". As long as there is no buildup or leakiness around her nares, I'm told it's nothing to worry about.

Haha, thanks! That made me feel much less worried. I guess I should just be glad she doesn't sneeze in my face. :)

Agave sneezes, and they tend to be a bit wet if she's has her bath in the last few hours. I agree with Sara - we keep a close watch on the nares and look for other signs of illness, but I think the odd sneeze is normal, as is the "pft" sound they make when they expel air from their nares.

I love when they sneeze! It's so cute and soft! :)
