View Full Version : Sleepy Navi?

So usually Navi is up until I force her to go to bed at around 9, crazy as can be and trying to get my attention. The past two days she's been going to bed herself- around 7:30 8ish. She sleeps in her happy hut as usual and is her normal self during the day but I am still worried. She is not being made to wake up early, I take the cover off when she starts making noise (around 10).
So... could she be sick, or is she just settling down a little? Is freaking out before bed like a toddler on sugar more of a "chick" behaviour, or should I be worried?
I'm taking her for a checkup in a week or two anyway, but if there is cause for alarm then I will take her earlier. I don't want to wait until she's doing the fluffed at the bottom of her cage thing...

you know. Yoshi has been putting himself to bed himself lately as well. Basically the same time.... 7:30-8....He too is healthy otherwise.
I thought it may be because it is getting dark outside here at about 6 now.... so maybe he just senses it is time to go

Mine are doing the same thing, I think beatle is on the right track with the light theory. If she seems okay otherwise, I wouldn't worry just yet - just keep an eye out for any other changes in behaviour. What an attentive parront you are!

Sounds like it is probably from the time change. Bodie has been the same way when I get home after work at 5:15pm. It is so dark early now I feel like going to bed.

Same here. Both my birds are pretty much ready for bed when it gets dark, about 5:30. I play with them a little after dinner and then it's lights out about 6:30 p.m., and they are uncovered when I get up, about 7:30 a.m. Plenty of sleep and quiet time make for much happier birdies!

Agave is getting to bed earlier too :)
Another thing to consider - if it's molting time (Agave is molting now), their energy might be a bit lower since it takes so much energy to grow all those new feathers!

Hmmm - Good thinkin' about the time change! Charlie is putting himself to bed about 9pm too. (Very early for him). I was starting to watch him for signs of illness also. I know he is Very Grumpy by 7 or 8pm. Viciously biting me if out of his cage at that time.....

AAAAH the time change! I forgot all about that. And of course it is getting darker here earlier, and she is growing new feathers. Hah! So many reasons. But I'm always worried over something or another. It's just weird to come home at 7:30 and see her in her bed.
I will keep an eye out as usual, but I bet you're all right. Thanks :)

Darn you daylight savings! We are going to Home Depot this week to buy a timer for the lamp by Cricket's cage. When I've been getting home from work around 5:30 he's in his snuggle hoop sleeping

She seems to have adapted now. She screams at me when I try to cover her now... back to normal!
