You will not regret it. It is so much fun to furnish the cage with goodies! It may take a day or two to get used to it, but boy is he going to love the room. How exciting!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v492/Sally11/bored-1.jpg

it's going to be home for one tiny little bird.... and then maybe his girl.

And I wonder why people think I'm crazy. See that's what i like about here. Everyone just understands why I do the things I do.

catfish,

I can't wait for you to get it! Mostly because I want to hear what you think of the assembly directions :D :D :D, my cage was made by the same Chinese company...;)

Actually, since yours is a single rather than a double, it won't be as much fun.

oh my... this could be interesting.... I can't promise there won't be some choice words thrown about... better do this one alone at home so my anger doesnt get misdirected to anyone else....

Oh yes, they are so much fun to put together - the directions or lack of - make no sense :p

BTW if Gelato is the inquisitive type let him be with you when you are putting the cage together. When I was building Rupert's he was walking all over the cage as I was assembling it - he was inside it before it was even built and he never needed an adjustment phase to get use to the cage :D

ohhhh that's a great idea! I'll do it! He loves to see what I'm doing, especially when I'm online. I play an online game and likes to watch by looking down from the top of my screen.

Although I was a bit freaked I was going to squish Rupert - just watch him and he'll have as much fun as you ;) :p

Thats neat Gelato watches what you are doing on the computer :D

Well it took me 30 minutes to put together. It would have only taken me about 15 minutes had it not had one faulty screw hole... the part that was placed in the predrilled hole to hold the screw in place was loose and fell down the hollow part of the bar. I luckily had some screws that were wide enough screw the 2 parts together (I had a bolt cutter, so I cut off the excess piece of the screw so the birds wouldn't chew on it).

It only had a picture to go by, but I was able to figure everything out. It's pretty big imo. I did say some choice words in my head as I was putting it together, but now that I am done I am very happy.

Tomorrow I will fill it with Gelato's toys and various swings. I will eventually add more things in there, but that will take time. He will be in his new home and I hope he will be very happy.

He will be getting his sister Hpnotiq this september (if everything goes as planned). Hopefully, by Jan they will be able to live together. We will see as the time comes.

Please let me know how it goes when you introduce Hypnotiq. I want to know what to expect when I get Maya for Oscar.
Thanks :D:D

catfish - Congrats on your new cage - aren't those directions ridiculous :D - I'm sure Gelato is going to love it.

Buuzbee - your pair are ADORABLE - P'lets and cages :p Is your female bigger than the male or is it just the picture? - I have the opposite my male is larger than my female - usually I see them being the same size in the pet stores.

The size usually depends on their genetics and size of their parents. My one boy weights 32 grams, his hen is small at about 28/29. I wasn't really aware of size/weight concerns when I was starting out. The hen is visual blue, he is green split blue. Anyway, all of their babies are 32 grams.

Now I had acquired a pair - yellow hen, green to yellow male. Both small around 27 grams. Their babies are like green rump size and I am not at all pleased about that. The parents came from a program where they were heavily bred for color, not size.

I haven't weighted mine in ages - I should see what they are at now -

Andrea - any idea what weight the wild Pacific Parrotlets are? 32g?

From what I understand, yes, 32 grams

I saw your finished pics... its looks great. I agree, i was cursing too... i put one of the pieces wrong on the base and while trying to haul the cage up, it fell on me and gave me a nice 3x3" bruise!!! it went nice shades of green, to blue, to purple, to black! LOL

OUCH! Well I'm glad you are okay though!

If it makes you feel better, I was cleaning vents at work with a broom b/c the duster went awol. I had the dust pan on the broom and was holding it, well I lost my grip and dropped the dust pan. The handle hit me right about my right eye and gave me a small gash, which then swelled, and then bruised. I can't even say something like a dog jumped up... no it was all my fault and the result of a dust pan handle.

Buzbee & catfish,

Wow, you guys sound almost as bad as me :D  - I'm glad there wasn't any permanent damage!

Buzbee,

Your two cage setup is just like my cage except that your cages are permanently divided whereas my divider is removable.

I had basically the same set of directions except my cage had a greater variety of parts and more of them  .

Art S.
