Hi all, need some help here.
I just got a baby green rump and I was wondering when should I let my one year old parrotlet, Oliver, meet the new baby?

And also, I went shopping for bird toys today and got some pellets because I've read that pellets are better than seeds. Is it true or can someone please enlighten me? As for now, Oliver doesn't seem to like the pellets very much.

Last question, the baby green rump came in a rectangular cardboard box with multiple holes. Am I supposed to open the top cover the whole time even when the baby is sleeping or just keep it closed?

If you don't open the box how will you get the bird out?

Is this baby fully weaned? The baby needs to be taken out of the box and placed in it's own cage. You cannot place it in the cage with your older parrotlet - that is it's territory and when it perceives an intruder, it could very well kill the baby.

Yes, please take the baby out of the box and put him in his own cage, asap. The box is only for transport home.

If I'm sleeping at night and the baby is sleeping too.

I'm going with everyone else's response, don't put the baby in your full grown parrotlet's cage - he may attack and kill the baby while because he will want to defend its territory. The box you got the baby in is for transportation only, the baby should have his own cage ASAP. Those cardboard boxes are meant for the ride home only and are not a suitable home for your baby... You should get him his own cage, toys, everything - right away.
