So about 2 weeks ago I noticed the feathers on my once beautiful birdie were becoming thinner, and she has been looking more scraggly than sleek and pretty. I think this may be becuase she is bored during the day she is essentially alone until I get home from school and work. And she doesnt really care for my mom or dad trying to take her out. I went to the avian store near my house and was reccomended a supplement meant for feather health and growth. I was told however it would take about 2 months to show any improvement. And I am going to try to find her some new toys to spruce up her home. Maybe something else for her to groom other than herself. But I am open to anyother advice anyone could possibly have to offer. I figure I would try somethings at home before rushing her off to the vet as I really think it is more of a boredom issue. She is still eating normally all her seeds, fresh fruits (she recently started eating strawberries and apples) and veggies. Along with her other occasional favorite treats.
Any adivce? Thanks

Yoshi started doing the same thing...it started right when he started molting for the first time. He has been doing better, but every once in a while he'll pluck out some of the nice new feathers on his chest. I was reccomended the avi calm and featheriffic supplements from avitech and I am expecting those at anytime. good luck and I hope everything turns out ok!!

I've never had this issue, hopefully the changes that you've made will help.

ive been told that heat and humidity can be causes of feather plucking sometimes due to it being too dry and musky or it being too hot for them even though there used to heat they have there points and ive hear air purifiers can help but dont go out and buy one but i would try one of those as last attempt but there the first few i would check on as well as boredom
