My Copi has a few black talons (toenails) and some that are clear or translucent. Elsewhere I have seen posted that this may be an indicator of age. A baby Parrotlet having black talons that go clear as they get older.
I think he bonded with me today, for the first time he came out of his cage onto my hand without a millet coax. This was when I noticed that his talons were mostly clear with only one black one.
Have other noticed this phenomena?
I just have to say these are the cutest birds on the planet.

I haven't heard of this before and I suspect it's probably one of those things that may be accurate, part of the time, sort of like trying to sex birds by their pelvic shape. Casino has always had clear nails with dark tips, from when I picked him up as a baby to now at almost two years old.
Congratulations on your achievement today!

Same - Agave has clear nails with black tips, and that hasn't changed to date, although she's still under a year old :)
Yay for step ups!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't really think it is an indication of aging in parrotlets. Bodie has both clear and black talons. As far as I know they have always been that way. I wish us humans had that gift with our hair staying the same color we where born with!:)

Yes, this is similar to what I saw posted before. It could be anecdotal, I was just curious as to what others have observed and it is leaning in favor of the "not verifiable".
Today Copi was very chirpy and excited when I got home. I swear he was showing off for me, biting his toys as if to say "Look what I can do, let me out!"
Next is the play gym and the clicker. These birds are just so wonderfully childish in happy-go-lucky playful way, it is so relaxing and de-stressing to spend time with him.
