I just was wondering if the waxed cage liners sold at Drs Foster and Smith are truly safe for parrotlets? I usually alternate between newspaper and or paper towel and line the bottom of the cage (so that I don't have to clean the grates).
Thanks everyone!

I just wonder why you would buy something when newspaper/paper towel are cheap/free, plentiful, and definitely safe (if they chew the paper, I would think wax, even if non-toxic, isn't that good for them?)
We use newspaper (we get a flier each week from a certain store that has pages that fit perfectly in Agave's HQ).
Just my two cents :)

Well I guess part of it is that it comes cut to the correct size meaning I'd only need one sheet per cage and not 2 running one way and one cut to fit the other way, and secondly because I can.
Thanks.

I don't cut the newspaper. I just let it fold upward so it acts as an extra seed guard.

Yes, those liners from Fosters & Smith are very nice, and totally safe. I used to use them, but it got sort of pricey for me. Now my husband uses old blueprint paper (plain, not printed on) and cuts it to the exact size for me....so, it works well, it fits perfectly and its free! :) But those liners are really nice if you dont want to fuss with cutting your own paper.

Sometimes they are good if you are monitoring the poop
because it is easier to see on the wax paper--
other than that I found it was pretty thin compared to the newspaper

I use a paper liner that is waxed on one side, "papery" on the other...works well - I put several of them in the bottom at one time and remove each one daily. Keeps the cage bottom quite tidy but Cosmo can't reach it through the grate.

I use the same stuff as Cosmo and I really like it - I find it doesn't hold the odour and dampness that newspaper sometimes will.

I considered it but prefer free newspaper (I just fold it under to fit just right).
Would using the old style printer paper (the endless banner type) be ok too?
I have 4 boxes from my husband's office - we use it for crafts (and then more crafts).
