I'm not really completely giving up on taming them, just making it easier for all 3 of us. Rosa and Cecil(well, Rosa at least) are scared enough that they just don't seem to want anything to do with me. I'm going to ease off of trying to tame them and just leave them more or less as "mini-aviary" birds. More or less just leave them in there unless they need to come out for some reason or until they get tame enough that I can put them up easily while they're out. Their new cage, once I get it, is going to be about 5 feet long, 2(possibly 2.5) feet deep and 3 feet tall. I know what sort of toys they seem to like, but how many perches/toy stations should I give them? I'm planning to leave some flight room toward the top for them and put the perches more toward the middle, but I don't know how many I should put in there so they'll have the room to play, but won't be too crowded to get exercise as well. What are you guys' suggestions?

What I usually do is fit as much as I can in the cage as I feel is comfortable for them and watch them for the next week or so... however long it takes for them to get comfortable (when moving into a new cage, I try to spread out the toys and perches from the old cage throughout the new cage; so at least they have something familar). Once comfortable, I move things around depending on how they like things and what gets pooped on. Usually my goal is to arrange things in a way that the birds like, yet minimizing the amount of poop from the upper perches/toys to the lower level; that way, there's less cleaning for me:)

So there's not really a set guideline for perches per square foot or anything along those lines? Just however many I feel like I can fit in there without them being stacked on top of each other?

I have two male parrotlets. Sprout came to us at a little over 7 weeks. We were doing good on bonding and he was coming out to be with us. Then at 4 months we brought a rehomed parrotlet into our home. Buddy was 4 and a half months old. Once we had both birds they bonded to each other and Sprout quit coming out to us. I can get him to step up and things but they would much rather being together. Sometimes you lose out. The bird bond in my case was stronger than our bond. This is just my take on things all birds are different
