I want to take Cabo to a vet to have his beak trimmed but they need to do a "wellness" check-up first because he's never been seen by her. I was just curious as to what kind of tests they do during such a visit. Besides some food and water, is there anything else I should come prepared with?

They will weigh him, have a look to see if he's "well-fleshed", check out his toenails, wings (maybe trim them if he needs a clip), and do an overall visual. You have the option of doing stool and blood tests to check for anything and to get a baseline (something to compare against should he ever get sick). The tests are optional, but if you can afford them, they can bring great peace of mind :)
It's also a great chance for you to get you're vet's feedback regarding any strange behaviour or to answer any questions you may have.
Good luck!

I would agree with Tina and Jeremy:) I usually don't bring water as it ends up all over my car... well food too, but I bring a the bowls and a little package of food, just in case I need it. I also bring a light cover for the cage in case they're too scared for the ride or need to settle down after being handled.
Good luck with the wellness check!

I usually don't bring water either. The vet will have it if you need it. I do bring one Nutraberry to occupy her during the trip -- yummy!
