These aren't anything really exciting, but wanted to share.
All the supplies that these toys are made out of were bought local. Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart and the Dollar Tree. I am about to order more supplies so I can continue to make more toys. I drilled the holes for the leather and wood and dyed the wood myself with food coloring, the popsicle sticks were bought already dyed. I'm using natural hemp to string the toys, I am going to buy some sisal and 100% cotton too!
Here is a very easy to make foot toy: "Just leather and beads"

First two toys I made yesterday:

I made this one today, It has a lot going on but hopefully he will like it. It's beads, pine soft wood, leather, buttons, plastic baby shower part favors(pacifiers, safety pins etc,..) & paper to shred.

And just wanted to let you guys know that I bought sisal rope yeterday from Hobby Lobby, it says 100% natural sisal, But I found out different it is coated with a petroleum product and you can smell and feel it..This should NOT be used. So, make sure before you buy! I already opened it and cute some pieces off before I noticed and paid $8 for it. ugh.

Just made a new Foraging toy!
Got the plastic containers from the dollar store for $1!..You get 10 of them! It took me a bit to get the lid to stay the way I wanted it, but Finally was able to!
I've made other toys too & will get those on here soon, I just ordered many toy parts so Can't wait to get some other toys made. I'll make a few of these foraging toys with different parts & will switch them out every once in a while. :) It is stuffed with shreddable paper right now from the dollar store.
I can stuff it with shreddable toys, foot toys or treats!

Cute!!
I just bought toys...but I'm really into looking at the $1 store. Best buy was a door knob hanger last Christmas. Just a ring with ribbons that hang down, but there are bells at the end of the ribbons. Seamus LOVES that one.
Yesterday I bought those Mardi Gras beaded necklaces, 8 in a pack, all different colors. I have one in his travel cage that he never stops with.
For $1 he can have 8X the fun! :p
Splurged and got the curley-Q ribbon for packages so he can chew away at that. 3 in the pack! It's just curled ribbon that hangs on a package.
:) :) :)

Thanks!
This is just a prototype..I'm waiting on my new supplies to actually add some wood and things to it, I just wanted to get the idea done lol I've been thinking about the last few days so finally got to do it! hehe
Yes, Dollar stores are the best! I get all my plastic beads from walmart as well, I have so many different kinds it's crazy.
At the Dollar tree you can get all the links you see there at the bottom of my foraging toy, you get MANY for $1! I've stocked up on them! They also have others..you have to look in the party supply section.

These are great toys! I have some toy parts lying around that I'd like to use but me thinks I need to get me a drill...I too got the sisal rope that is coated. Made me so uumm - aggravated. It is fun to make them toys and they seem to enjoy them more or at least as much as store bought...

BirdLady - Yes, it is a wonderful feeling to see them actually use the toys we make!
My little guy is to young as of yet, but my fathers parakeet and Sun Conure have LOVED the few toys I have made them already...I went over to see my father today & My Sun Conure was having a ball shredding his.
I use a drill for thick wood but for the popsicle sticks, and the thinner pine wood I just use a knife or pair of scissors slowly twisting my way into the wood to make a hole. :)

My kids and I made some toys for our Conure, Have you ever tried taking straws and "sharpening" them in a cheap plastic pencil sharpener? Takes some practice the first time, but once you get it down, it make fun little curly cue peices!!! We made some out of red white and blue straws for Fourth of July!! have fun and great ideas here so far!!
