I bought an HQ Flight cage for our boy, and I'm not really thrilled with the seed bowls it came with. I've been searching high and low, but haven't found anything I really like yet. What are y'all using for yours???

Thanks!
Dave

For my conure, I use ones like this http://www.trueloveaviary.com/ststcocupbo5.html since she likes to pull her food bowls off of the wall of her cage.

Since the little guys are, well, tiny and can't pick off their bowl, I have ones like this http://www.trueloveaviary.com/jutaincrloc1.html that slide over the bars of the cage. They're too small to tip them off, and seem to enjoy being able to get into the dishes while they're eating. So far they haven't decided to use them as a restroom, so unless they do, I'll keep those ones in there.

I love my HQ flight cages, but don't like those plastic feeder cups either -- too hard to clean, for one thing.

I use round stainless steel cups for both my Parrotlet and my Conure. They are about 4 inches in diameter. You can get the kind where a metal ring bolts to the cage and the cup sits in the metal ring, or the type where the metal ring has hooks that slide over the cage bars. I like the bolt on type. You can get them on line, plus Petco and/or PetSmart usually carries them.

Don't worry about this size being too big for your P'let. They have no problem perching on the side of the dish and leaning in! Angelina gets so excited that sometimes, as I'm coming toward the cage with her bowl, she take a flying leap and plop! right into the bowl!

I position both food and water bowls down low on the front of the cage. This helps keep the food inside the cage, and I can reach them easily from the bottom door. They are SO easy to clean and will last forever!

I bought a critter shelf. It is a wire shelf that hangs on the side of the cage. I put the fresh food in a little dish and just set it on the shelf. I also found small plastic dishes with hooks to hang on the bars for water & seed. I make sure there are no perches about the food and water dishes so Petie is less likely to poop into them.

I don't like the plastic bowls either. I tried them for a little bit but they're hard to clean.

I use the coop cups that hang on the sides of the cage (I use to have the ones that screwed to the side of the cage, but I couldn't find the stainless steel ones, only the powder coated ones and I found that the powder coating was as good and would rub off and rust underneath after awhile). I also bought the bird cage corner shelf for my cages and put ceramic dishes on there for fresh foods and a bowl of water for drinking/bathing.

I use coop cups for my p'lets as well. The big guys all have stainless steel dishes too.

These are the very best p'let feeders I have found and use. I LOVE them. They do a great job of containing the seed mess.

Kristen,
I've never seen that type of feeder before! I'm going to get one when I can. Thanks for the picture.

These feeders are guaranteed to contain the mess, and let me tell you, they DO!!! I love them! The parrotlets love them too because there's a perfect sized perch for them to stand on while eating inside of them.

I use a mixture of small ceramic bowls and metal bowls as in the first link on the 2nd post :)
