Lately my parrotlet has been progressively getting weird feathers that look like sticks coming mainly out of his head. It kind of looks like dread locks. Does anyone know why this is happening. Im not sure if this is natural. Im worried. :confused:

It's molting, perfectly normal. Those are called pin feathers.
It's when new feathers begin to grow, they have a waxy casing on them
that eventually falls off or the bird preens and it reveals the new feather

this can make birds cranky because they are very sensitive.
You might want to mist the bird a few times a week to soften the feathers
and encourage cleaning
