Hi All- There is a lot of material out there on what to feed your parrotlet, but I have not really seen anthing on how much to feed. It seems mine has a huge appetite! Will they self monitor how much they consume?

I just free-feed. I give him 2/3 of seed and leave it in there, but everyday take most of the kernals out. Sometimes I put bagged greens and alittle bit of black charcoal -- these greens and charcoal are once or twice a week-- and with Kiwi's diet I like to free-feed veggies, fruits, and bridie bread. He doesnt look at all "fat".

OVerall, I free-feed.

I free feed – they pretty much manage how much they need – they have such high metabolisms and need a lot of food compared to their body size – as you can see from your guys huge appetite :D

Just watch for the fatting stuff – like sunflower seeds – nuts etc I feed the more fatting foods in moderation.

I know! With their big-bird attitude, I sure wouldn't want to tangle with a 32 oz parrotlet!! LOL:eek:
