Its a Swing, no its a bridge, wait it's just 2 pieces of paper?

Hallo! This post is about how to make a cool, cheap DIY P'let toy! :)

First of all you will need a News paper (Tabloid size) but any size will do.
You will also need some Cable Ties (Zip ties) some of your birds favourite seeds,
and some time! I've included Pics for this post they're attached at the bottom.

Step 1: Take one sheet of News paper, and cut it in half - (see attached)

Step 2: Place one of the two sheets onto of the other and turn horizontally - (See attached)

Step 3: Ever done a paper fan? Exactly the same principle! Fold a tiny bit, turn over fold a tiny bit, turn over ect - (See attached)

Step 4: It should look like this! - (See attached)

Step 5: Now, get a cable tie - (See attached) and fasten it round one end of the paper - (See attached) Then cut the remainder of the cable tie off.

Step 6:And then the same on the other side - (See attached)

Step 7: Then do one in the middle - (see attached)

Step 8: Now on the bits of paper in the middle, pull outwards like a fan - (See attached)

Step 9:You can then - either put seeds in the cracks, make holes and get beads and natural string and hang bits from it - (See attached) pull on either end and make a swing - (See attached) or even use it as a bra!!! LOLS have fun!

Very impressive...but just two things to note:
1. Newspaper ink and
2. Metal inside wire ties
are both toxic to parrotlets so you might just want to be slightly careful about the materials you use. I don't think you have used metal ones though...maybe use string and plain paper instead?:)

Haha, yeah, theres no metal inside the wire ties, and i think it's shiny ink thats dangerous? I looked it up, the Ink doesn't shine, so I'm pretty positive it's safe. :) I dangled little bits of natural Raffia through it, then threaded some shiny beads through, he's really fascinated by them, also a bit scared, haha. - P :)

Good show, I like all the toys, I can use a new bra too..

MK89 from what I understand newpaper ink is made from soy and is non toxic, and those ties are plastic..

Newspaper ink is soy based in the US and has been for 10 years so the newspaper should be just fine and I use plastic cable ties.

That's alright then! I thought all ink was toxic (that's what the breeder told us so we are quite wary!) but thanks for clearing up the misunderstanding! I'm looking forward to this summer...going to make lots of toys for Buddy with the ideas posted in this forum :) I remember we bought a new swing for him a few months back and he was absolutely terrified of it! Eventually after a lot of prodding, he finally realised that it wasn't going to attack him...he now sits and sleeps on it quite happily!
