So I was getting dressed just now, and at one point I was standing on my tippy toes. I didn't notice that Navi had run under one of my feet, and I stepped on her!
I didn't put too much of my weight down, and she doesn't seem to be hurt anywhere. She still bites me if I try to get her off my shoulder, so that's a good sign. But I just put her in her cage for breakfast and she is not interested in food, just sitting on a perch all fluffed as if she were napping, except without the happy beak clicking.
Now she's stretching like normal, and seems more alert. Is she just a little shellshocked?
I am so worried, and am staying home from school to keep an eye on her. If she gets worse then it's off to the vet. What else should I do??????:(:(:(:(
Are there any specific signs I should be looking for?

***Update*** now she is eating and climbing the cage bars, but still a little fluffed

Agile and cognigent....I'm thinking she's okay. Just needs a bit to come back to her comfort zone. that's just my opinion though, based on what you write.

She is blessed to have just a worry-ful/loving family! :)

I have to laugh on this one because I remember stepping on 2 of my p'lets, both times not too hard though because they squeaked and kept on running minding their own business. Those little buggers sneek in anywhere haha.

I honestly think you are over concerned. They have pretty flexible bones and unless you put your full weight on them they should be ok.

Try holding her on your finger make her step up and down, compare her responses if your concerned.

Since I am positive you did not put your full weight on her, I am sure the little bugger is just fine!

WOW - what a scare! It's good you're keeping an eye on her. Sounds like she's going to be okay!

Phew! I just came back from the vet and absolutely everything is fine. Just a bit of a shock for both of us (especially me!).
She's throwing her toys around now and preening. At least we got a good read of that BirdTalk magazine in the waiting room- the one with the parrotlet on the cover!
What a relief!

Really. No more running around on the floor for her... at least not as long as I'm not sitting down. These things have a way of making one feel like a great stupid oaf...

oh my god thank goodness shes alright!
when i hovered over the thread title and the first few lines came up i felt sick

Pickle has a kind of weeble toy, and the weight in it is quite heavey (well heavier than him anyway) and a while ago he got too excited and threw it off the table while he was still hanging on to it, so him and the toy fell off the table and onto the floor and it landed on top of him! it was so scary, but he was ok after a quiet cuddle.

I was going to post, GET THEE TO A VET!
But I see that you have. Good for you. I don't believe in being "over-concerned" when it comes to birds! Glad she's okay :D

You must learn to do the "Birdie Shuffle". That is walking without lifting your feet off the ground whenever your bird is out of the cage. I taught that to my husband - very glad I did (if you get my drift). Glad everyone is OK.

they can find trouble so fast!!!!!! I caught mine chewing through the screen on the window and it scared the bejeebers outta me!!!they could fly out the hole so fast it would make my head spin--I never leave them in a room alone......

I am definitely practicing my birdy shuffle. Good thing I was only in socks at the time, but I will make sure never to do anything stupid like that again! These little buggers get into everything and anything.

Thanks for your concern everybody. She is definitely ok now, I guess we were both just a little shocked at first. Whew!

Keep her off the floor! I thought Kiwi was over by the fireplace and as fast as can be he was under my chair. I stepped down off my barstool to go get him to put him in his cage. I was always so careful. It was horrible. He lasted 10 minutes and was gone. I was devastated. I still am very, very sad. I will never have another bird on the floor. Kiwi loved our little dog even cuddled next to her the night before she died. Kiwi would fly down to follow her everywhere. We didn't think there was any harm in it. After our dog died Kiwi would push his scrunched up napkin onto to floor to play soccer and kick it. It was adorable. I never thought it would happen. I loved my bird. Something to think about.

I always have to worry about yoshi. He will NOT stay put if I leave the room, he follows me everytime. I have gotten into the habit of just putting him on my shoulder if I decide to leave the room we're in, even if its just for a second.

Also, luckily, I have gotten good at mimicking his main little chirp, and if I do that, he chirps back everytime!! It is really useful, before I enter a room I'll do that and he will reveal where he is, it is very cute.

chyrky, that story is devastating. I'm sorry that happened. I don't think p'lets should be let on the floor just anywhere, I thought my room was safe... but I don't know now!

beatle23_5 that is so cute, I wonder if Navi will do that? Usually she seems to think her business is too important to bother with my every beck and call. Hmmm
