This is my first posting on a forum ever. :o

I have been trying to find out where I can get the acrylic tinkertoy stuff to make my own parrotlet play gym. Does anyone know where to find them?

Thank you,
Cindy :D

Hi and wlecome to the forum, Cindy. I have THREE acrylic play stands, but they were purchased as play stands. (I bought one, one was a gift, and the third one was given to me with Angelina, my adopted P'let.) They come all in pieces and can be put together in various ways, kind of like tinkertoys.

Here's what mine look like:

And here's where I got it:

It all comes apart and can be put together in many different ways. All the bells, and others goodies you see in the picture come with the playstand. My 3 P'lets just love theirs!

Hope this helps a little!

Just wondering if the birds use the playstands. I have a playstand and Jesse prefers his cage top instead of the stand. Hate to invest the money if they don't use it.

My 3 use their playstands all the time -- a place to fly to and hang out. They even have a playstand on top of one of their HQ cages! Actually, the WHOLE (small) ROOM is their playstand! LOL!

Mine have a playpen on top of their cage with swings, toys, bells, ladders etc. but they rarely use it. they prefer to fly up onto the ceiling fan and just hang out there watching everything down below. I have even clipped millet all over the playpen and at first they would go to it and eat the millet but now they don't even do that. they prefer to be in the highest point in the room to get a birds eye view of everything....I've been thinking about buying the playpen jodeg posted above but am kind of afraid they won't really use it (I'll probably get it anyway) it looks really cool........

I'll put mine on a playstand and he chirps and runs over to me and climbs in my hair.....then bites my neck...as if to say, why would you leave me there?!....so I think I have officially becomes yoshi's playstand.

What I like about that acrylic playstand is that it can be re-arranged differently to fit your space or just to change things up. It's a nice size too, so there's lots of places to "hang out".

Back when I just had Kiwi and her cage was in our family room, I used to put the stand on my t.v. tray and set it by my recliner. She'd play on the stand and interact with me while we watched t.v. It comes with little treat dishes (you can see them hanging in the top horizontal ladder), so you can put little goodies in there for them to find.

It's not an inexpensive playstand, but you get a lot for the money and it's a good size. By the way, it's not attached to that square base at all, and easily lifts off to clean the base.

Have I tempted anyone yet? I know that when I got my first one and posted pictures here, a WHOLE BUNCH of members ordered them! Tee Hee!

I too am thinking about it mainly because it would be easy to keep clean.
Like the others Jesse thinks I am his playstand. Even now sitting on my arm as I type.

Thank you JoAnn. The King's Cage PlayGym is just what I was looking for.:D Now I just need to find the right P'let. My sweet friend Kiwi died two weeks ago. Does anyone know any Hobby breeders for P'lets in North Florida? I'd like to find a hand raised P'let.

Is anyone going to the Bird Expo in Orlando April 18th? Have you been there in the past? How is it? Can you buy the King's Cage PlayGym there?

Cindy

Pickle has this one;

its quite small so when he goes away it can fit in the bottom of a cupboard, we got it when we got him, and hes still exploring it
i like the tray around the bottom, we some times put food in it, or toys like balls to stop them falling off things.
he spends a good amount of time there, if hes out playing and hes had enough of us hell sit on there and preen and talk or amuse himself
and as its quite plain, there still loads of room to clip on other toys and change it around quite alot to stop him getting bored

I know what you mean, Beatle23 5. I bought a nice playgym for Charlie and he jumps off and flies over to me to sit on my shoulder and nest in my hair. Guess I was the only one excited with the nice stand!!

This is the playpen I plan on getting for my little parrotlets! I am so happy I could find somebody who has one as I wanted to know if they were just perfect for parrotlets? On one of my other forum's a person posted a picture of her GCC on this playpen, and then another picture of her parrotlet on a different one. She said that both birds just could not get enough of it, and I had been trying to find one for ages.

Right now my QP, and tiel play on a large powdered coated one with a pull-out grill, tray, and two overhead toy hooks. So much more practical than those old ones where the toys clip below to be poo*ed on! But I do not want the "large" parrots out with the "small" parrots, and I will need another playpen for the 'lets.

This looks perfect, and easy to clean!
