I wanted to share a picture of Vinnies eye to see if anyone has had a similar issue. At our 1st vet visit they noticed that he had a slight scratch and gave him an anti-inflammatory eye drop. 1 week later it looked better and we stopped the drops per the vet. 1 week later, he was scratching at it and it was bulging bad. The vet was really worried about the bulge. She now has him on 2 anti-inflammatory's and 2 antibiotics. It's been just over 2 weeks on the meds and the eye still slightly bulges on and off. He still scratches at it on and off. We're still on the meds until they run out.

Has anyone had an eye issues like this?

Did the vet mention a sinus infection? Poor little guy, you can tell it bothers him.

The vet hasen't mentioned a sinus infection, but I'll ask next time we go. If that's a possibility wouldn't the antibiotic's he's on take care of it?

You would think so, unless it is way up in the sinus and the meds can't go there. Something for sure is going on. That's right you go to Monterey to AEC . Great avian vets. Also how's his diet?

What vet did you say you are working with?

Yea, the Monterey Avian Vet is awsome. We've been seeing Dr. Wells and love her. She never seems to get tired of my endless questions.

Believe it or not, his appetite is great. I've got him on Shauna's mash sprinkled with Harrison pellets. He loves both. I also give him Lafebber balls as treats 2-3 times a day. It just depends how much he's been out of the cage.

Vinnie probably would like the Harrison's Birdie Bread. Bodie loves . I alternate between the three flavors.

Keep me posted on Vinnie's progress . I would like to see what Dr. Wells is able to do for Vinnie.

Talked to the vet yesterday and we now are down to 1 dose of meds a day. His eye swelled a little this morning, but I'm hoping that's not a trend. Dr. Wells said to keep an eye on the swelling and to finish the antibotics out. Once they are done and we can start weaning him off the anti-inflammatory/pain meds. We're keeping our fingers crossed!!!

Hope your little guy feels better soon!

I had a parakeet as a kid who had a weird feather that would grow into her eye. The first time it happened, her eye got like that and we took her too a vet who plucked all the feathers out from around her eye and gave her antibiotics. That one feather always grew back in the same wonky way, so every few months we took Sunny to the vet to get her eye feathers done.
