He seems to spend alot of time being silent and gazing into space.
even when you talk to him, he doesnt do much in response.
Luca (the female of the pair) tweets back to you when you talk, and moves her head when she listens to you..but Blue just seems to be in a world of his own.
their cage is in a quieter part of the house untill they come out of quarantine, but every one pays them regular visits and im leaving music on for them untill they can be moved to a busier part of the house..but to me his behaviour is still a little odd.
i'm begining to think that Luca may have been hand reared (she isnt as scared of us, and is more responsive) could this possibly be the cause for the difference in behaviour? or is there a bigger problem? has any one else noticed this kind of behaviour between hand reared and parent reared birds?

Parent reared birds generally react to your presence as well, as they view you as something that could potentially be threatening. If you find he is unresponsive or listless, it may be a sign that he is not feeling well. Is he moving about the cage? Eating, drinking, pooping? Sitting fluffed up?

I would say that it may not be a bad idea to have a vet look at him, because the "gazing into space" worries me.
I got a 3 year old untamed p'let, though he didn't talk back at me, he definitely responded when I moved around, more so to avoid me. If anything, I noticed that if I talked to him, he would at least keep an eye on me.
I hope things are alright with him.

I read something about that its called stargazing and they sometimes do that if they are not getting enough light.

thanks for the comments guys.
he eats, he drinks, he poops, he moves around the cage all fine. the moving around the cage is to get away from us if we get too close, it seems to be the only response we get. he doesnt really puff up that much though..
its not because hes not getting enough light, because their cage is infront of a window.

I don't know about the UK, but in the USA, our windows are designed to filter out pretty much all of the UV-B light, which is what the birds need. I supplement my guys by taking them outside whe the weather is nice and with a full spectrum light for 1 hour.
Otherwise, most pellets will contain vitamin D (which is what UV-B light is needed for), so then technically, you won't need the light.

Just one more thought when mine seems to cling to one spot and stares he is usually scared. Something in the cage may remind him of a snake. I am probably wrong but take a look around.

Ha! i never thought of that.
although i dont think thats it, the only thing resembling a snake is the millet, and they are most definatly not scared of that! little fatties lol
i was sat with them today, and Blue seemed perkier, he actually tweeted when i spoke to him.
for now im just hopeing he'll get a bit more lively when they come out of quarantine..if hes still quiet and acting funny after that then i may take him to the vet
