I cannot get this little birdy of mine to eat any kind of veggies or fruit , I have been trying for almost 3 weeks now , I serve it to him every evening and he will not and does not touch them :( I tried in his food bowl and on a paper plate either way is a no go and I have tried all kinds of mash and fruits :( so I ordered so Hagen Tropi Mix for small birds I have heard this is really good stuff at the price it should be, does anyone feed this? or have any comments about it?

I can't say that I've ever that mix, but I used to have the same veggie/fruit problem with Tink! I discover that if I took a really small piece of fruit/veggie and mixed/mashed seeds into it, she would at least try it out (she didn't really have a choice since to get the seeds meant having to dig through the fruit or veggie). It took some time, but now she's cool with trying different foods and even has a few favourites!
Good luck! ^^

Fruit isn't as important as veggies in a p'let diet, and I'm not sure that a mix will cut it - fresh is always best. Don't despair! It can take weeks and even months to convince these stubborn little guys to try new things!! You are on the right track by trying different methods of preparation and serving. Tweak had a great idea with mixing the seed into a small amount of fresh food so she at least gets the taste. Another thing that has worked for me is playing with my little ones and then stopping to taste a raspberry or piece of broccoli, and I pretend to eat it and make happy sounds. Sometimes they need to hear you actually crunch it, so make sure you have enough to share! Usually temptation gets the better of them and they'll at least taste it to see what all the fuss is about.
Try taking out all of the food overnight after you put Scooby to bed, and the next morning offer only mashed veggies with enough seed mixed in for him to recognize it as food. Change it out a couple of times over the course of the morning, and then replace his usual food around 2pm - this way he won't starve if he really refuses to try the mash, but he will at least be hungry in the morning and more likely to try it.
Good luck, with persistence this will pay off!

I am glad this was posted, I have the same problem with Noel, and not knowing her background, I don't know what she was fed, but I have made birdie bread, with veggies that were blended and offer it to her every morning and she won't touch it..I have sprinkled seeds on it , and she still will not touch it, so I guess it is a wait game that someday she will..I bought some Avie Tech greens to sprinkle on her seeds that way she is getting some veggies in her..

I totally agree with Enborgle -- keep trying, it may take a LONG time, but offer the veggies every day. One day.....BANG!....Scooby will gobble it down!

Have you ever tried hanging a piece of broccoli and carrots and a skewer. Most birds love to eat the flowerie seedy part of the broccoli. I noticed that my guys sometimes won't eat cold veggies but if you warm them up some they are OK. Try sprouting grains...my guys love sprouts especially Sprout LOL rolleyes:
I feed goldenfeast austrailian blend seeds mix to my guys and it has dried fruits and veggies and it organic. Just keep trying. When makking birdie bread put seeds into it with like baby food squash, carrots, green beans, peas. My boys dig rhough it and actually get some good out of it even if they don't eat it all
GOOD LUCK:p

Yahoo! Now that he has tasted them and knows they're food, you're well on your way!

My p'let turned his little snout skywards when I first introduced veggies to him... I did the seeds mixed in thing and now he wakes me up every morning between 7:30 and 8 to get his breakfast. This am it was a mixture of tiny organic multi colour alphabet pasta cooked with chilli flakes , chlli powder and cayenne powder. This was mixed with chopped fresh veggies...( radish , broccolli, cauliflower, and green peppers) and sprouts... both the p'let and my two budgies gobbled this up this am.

I keep reading that birds like spicy foods but how spicy is spicy. I mean, is it hotter than most people would like? I can't imagine being a bird and eating chilli peppers! I wonder if they would like their birdy bread seasoned with it...

well I thought sucess with Scooby but nope he refused to eat any veggies tonight , I took out his food bowl and tomorrow morning I will give him fesh veggies hopefully he will be hungry by then I will leave them in his cage for about 2 to 3 hours and see what happens I work tomorrow afternoon so by 1pm he can have his pellets back don't want the little guy to starve
another thing when do they start playing with toys? he does not touch any of his toys :( my 3 love their toys
My bird had to "kill" her fruits and veggies for months before she decided to eat them. I'd let her see me eat them, then offer her a chunk. She'd go nuts-- flapping and twittering, stabbing with her beak (watch your fingers!). Finally she calmed down enough to nibble at them.
