I will be as delicate as possible because I know there are some younger members here.
Lately Cas has taken to pleasing himself. (Ew Ew, gross!)
I read somewhere that when that happens, you should discourage it (although he doesn't have one bit of shame in him)
I went to research it and found some people saying you should just ignore it.
Now I don't know what to do about it, if anything.
Does anyone have any helpful input?

Parrotlets are very physically needy in that respect. My pairs "go to town" constantly. Several times a day. This is a definite need for them. Discourage it on you by all means, but if Cas has no mate you can't fault him for this. Have you thought about getting a hen for him yet? Mainly for his companionship and needs, but also to double the fun for you!

Now this has been in my mind lately...
I've been thinking of getting Kismet a hen companion at some point - and I believe I read somewhere that you can keep them from, er, fertilizing?
I'm not interested in starting a brood... is it just supervision while they're together?

I can't even imagine how a P'let "pleasures himself". Explain please.
Ellen's (my wife's) previous bird, a parakeet, was rather fond of used tissues ;) . Personally, I wouldn't worry about it, consider it a conversation starter when guests are over :D  .

About what age do they start?
Maybe I should have a talk with Kismet...
